Panteleon Dolores Projection Mapping

In an art exhibit organized to push the bounds of public space and the preconceived uses of certain monuments such as libraries, cemeteries or whole towns, artists and studios from Mexico City were tasked to reinterpret particular locations around Mexico City. In this piece the Panteleon Dolores, or Dolores Cemetery in English, was transformed by a group called Llamarada using projection mapping and brightly colored animations to explore the town’s fair idea of what happens when someone passes on in Mexican culture, to them its parties and fireworks. Bringing that party to the gray landscape of the cemetery allowed the projections to breathe a new modern life in.
